Natural Cholesterol Control
I am going to say this up front. High cholesterol and triglycerides in humans goes not come from eating foods high in cholesterol and animal fats. This is not an opinion, it is not conjecture, I am not parroting the opinion of someone else. I have done the test, and it is so very easy to demonstrate.
Why do people have high cholesterol? It comes from eating sugars and carbohydrates by people who are prone to high lipids. As I have said, this is very easy to demonstrate.
If eating dietary cholesterol and fats caused high cholesterol and triglycerides, then eating a diet that consisted entirely of nothing but fatty meat and eggs, by a person with high cholesterol, should cause the cholesterol levels to go up further, or at least stay high. But that is not what happens. On a diet of meats and eggs, with zero carbohydrates or sugars, the cholesterol levels go down dramatically.
If eating carbohydrates and sugars causes cholesterol and triglycerides to go up, then eating a diet that consisted entirely of nothing but carbohydrates and sugars, by a person with high cholesterol, should cause the cholesterol levels to go up further, or at least stay high. And that is exactly what happens. In most cases that I have seen, the numbers go up very high.

When I did this study I was the subject of the test. When I began, my cholesterol was 268 with a ratio of 7.5 and triglycerides above 300. I started first on the zero carbohydrate and sugar diet, eating only meat and eggs, nothing else.
Twice a week I checked my cholesterol and triglycerides levels, and once each week I checked my liver enzymes. With each test my cholesterol and triglycerides numbers improved. After five weeks my cholesterol was 185 with a ratio under 4, and my triglycerides was 106. That was about what I had expected. What I had not expected was that my liver enzyme numbers also improved. My ALT numbers had been ideal when I started but my AST numbers had been high and they normalized by the fourth week. I should have expected this because alcoholics frequently have liver problems and this is probably because alcohol turns to sugar very rapidly and it is the high levels of sugar that damage the liver.
At this point I changed diets and went on the all carbohydrate and sugar diet to check to see for sure if it is carbohydrates and sugar the cause elevated cholesterol. The first day my diet consisted mostly of Oats, which have been advertised as lowering cholesterol. I had a fat free Oat Bran muffin, Oat Meal, plain, and Honey nut Cheerios without milk.. The following morning my cholesterol had gone up from 185 to 219, a jump of 34 points. On the carbohydrate diet my cholesterol was over 300 in a week and my triglycerides were over 400. This diet had consisted of whole grain breads, potatoes, corn, oats, brown rice and whole grain pasta, the sugars consisted of honey and maple syrup, no white sugar.
I am not suggesting anyone should go on an all meat diet. You do not need to do anything quite this drastic to lower your carbohydrate and sugar intake enough to protect your health. But this is an easy way to demonstrate what does and what does not cause high cholesterol and triglycerides,
Taking statin drugs may lower your cholesterol levels, but what good is that when you still get type 2 diabetes and end up with kidney failure, and possibly congestive heart failure.
Not everyone is prone to having high cholesterol or triglycerides, but if you are, it would be worth your while, and your health, to make the effort to find the diet that works for you. We are all different, and there is no single diet that works for everyone.
